Fall Break 1

Fall break has just concluded, which signifies the return to school again. Throughout the break, I focused mostly on my work and my extracurricular activities. On the first day of fall break, I took my final road lesson, which allows me to acquire my license before I go to college.

“Fences” Ending

Today in multicultural literature we finished reading the play “Fences.” I was not present for most of the class period since I was at my senior meeting, but I was still able to interpret and find out what ends up happening in the final acts of the play. About seven years pass and Troy dies and his family and friends are present at his funeral. At the funeral, we meet Raynell, the baby Troy had with Alberta that Rose took care of after Alberta’s passing. At the funeral, Rose reveals many thoughts and feelings she’s had about Troy throughout her life. We learn that Cory ended up joining the US Marines Corps and sought to never be like his father. The play ends with Gabriel blowing into his trumpet without a mouthpiece and predicting that Troy made it to heaven. I am doing good.

“Fences” Act 2, Scene 2

Today in multicultural literature we continued to read the play “Fences.” Act two scene two marks the beginning of the falling action of the play and we learn many new things that occur over the six month time period. We learn that Alberta has passed away while giving birth to her daughter. Troy is distraught from hearing this information and rushes to the hospital to pick up the newborn daughter. In the following scene, Cory attempts to stand up against Troy, but fails. As a result of his actions, Cory is kicked out of the house, which marks the majority Troy’s relationships ending with Rose, Alberta, Cory, and Gabriel. I am doing good.

"Fences" Act 2, Scene 1

Today in Multicultural Literature, we read act two,  scene one of "Fences." The climax has been reached at this point of the play. Bono convinces Troy to confess his affair to Rose, which Troy does do. We learn from Troy's confession that he impregnated Alberta and Rose is very unhappy with Troy's actions. Rose opens up and reveals her emotions for Troy and the struggles she had to endure to remain with Troy, such as not following her dreams. At the end of the scene, Troy holds onto Rose's shoulder tightly to the point that it hurts Rose. Cory comes outside and punches Troy onto the ground to prevent Troy from holding onto Rose. Later in class we worked on three dilemma questions. I am doing good.
